You don't fcuk with ninjas (21/05/10)

So this incident happened on Tuesday. Only 2 minutes distance from where I live, and to the guy living right under me on the first floor.

The thieves were assaulting a German medical exchange student in Sydney, but the alleyway where they struck was next to a school for ninja warriors.

"We just ran outside and started running at them, yelling and everything," said ninja master Kaylan Soto who instructed his students to take action.

"These guys have turned around and seen five ninjas in black ninja uniforms running towards them. They just bolted."

The medical student was targeted since he was on the train. The 3 muggers tailed him from the station, and attacked him from behind. Who knows what could've happened if those ninja dudes weren't around for class that night.

I am gonna bring a fruits basket to those guys to say good on them.

How to not to look like an unfit dumbass (20/05/10)

Now here's a interesting dilemma for ya, hear me out.

See I was doing a 5km fun run up the local mountain (it's called the North Brother mountain, but it's only half a km tall). I regularly run between 6-7km on the flat quite comfortably. I thought "5km? That's nothing!".

Running on an incline however is an entirely different story, and whoo boy did I learn the hard way. At about halfway into the 3rd km I pushed myself too hard and I went into fatigue. My body feels cold, I was light-headed and I was nauseous. I've experienced this before, and I know it'll take as long as 10 minutes before my body readjusts itself. Here's the dilemma now - there are two options before me:

1). I can pretend nothing has happened, and stumble on.

2). I can sit on the road side to recover, and everyone running past can see me and know "Yeap, this guy's pushed himself too hard".

So obviously I chose option no. 1. :)

But I was still feeling terrible and dizzy, I've gotta let my body rest somehow. So what did I do? I drop on one knee, untie my shoelace, and tie it up again slowly. I pretended that my shoelaces came apart so I could kneel down and rest - the perfect disguise!!

I repeated 3 times until I finally felt alright again, and then I was able to half-walk-half-jog the rest of the way.

So that was what happened when I got sent to North Haven, NSW for my rural clinic attachment. I absolutely loved the 4 weeks I spent there. I ran up the same mountain 4 more times afterwards and was able to maintain running non-stop for the last 3 times. It's a grumbling effort, but the view on top is worth every second of it:

my apartment is right next to a karate dojo, but i don't feel all that safe. the only guys that come out of there are wannabe-ninja buffed-up-yet-still-kinda-nerdy white guys, not hot asians, unfortunately :(

I'm not surprised, considering that all the hot asians are in medical school.

Lol I know. Their school is called "Ninja Senshi Ryu", so it does literally mean "ninja warriors". It sounds so outlandish when I first read the local headlines. "Penrith Ninja Warriors Rescue a Mugging Victim". :)
